Our Program Philosophy

The YMCA provides a vital service to families in the community with Child Care programs which deliver stimulating learning experiences to children in a safe environment. We enrich family life by providing the opportunity for parents to seek employment or education outside the home. YMCA Child Care provides experiences that will enhance your child's social, intellectual, physical and emotional development.

Our Child Care Values

  • YMCA Child Care is available to all regardless of sex, creed or economic circumstance.
  • Parents have the right to pursue work or education with peace of mind and children have the right to a secure, safe and developmentally appropriate programs.
  • Child care families can access the additional support and services the YMCA provides.
  • Parent participation is important to YMCA Child Care staff.

Staff - Competent and Caring

Our  dedicated staff are carefully chosen and specially trained to ensure quality care. They have personal qualities of friendliness, warmth, and the ability to relate openly to children and adults.

Our staff are professionally trained and experienced in the field of Early Childhood Education. We can draw on the talents of other YMCA program staff who provide additional resources for the programs we provide.

Program Enhanced Learning

Our programs at the YMCA Child Care Centres concentrate on active learning on the part of the child both physically and mentally. Because the curriculum is appropriate to the cognitive development of the individual child, children have ample opportunity to explore and experiment at their own level of knowledge.

Children's activities are both interesting and satisfying. Teachers are aware of their needs for challenge, success and room to grow.
